Orb Encounters
Definition
Orbs are the beautiful balls of light captured in digital
photographs. They can appear anywhere from wispy to brilliant white
spheres of light. These “orbs” with their concentric circles, coronas,
mandalas, faces, bumps, knobs and tracks seemingly appear at random
times in one photo but not the next. They are known to manifest in
different colors and sizes, singularly and in groups.
Orbs exhibit consciousness and can respond to requests by appearing
in meaningful places at meaningful times. A growing number of people are
experiencing the orb phenomena as a spiritual, transcendental or other
worldly event that occurs after the death of a loved one. When
photographed by a grieving family member, orbs can give a sense of
solace unlike any other during a time of loss and adjustment.
Orbs have been sighted during OBE’s and NDE’s with the most
publicized being the “brilliant orb of light” in Proof of Heaven: A
Neurosurgeon’s Near Death Experience and Journey into the Afterlife,
by Dr. Eben Alexander. He encounters a stranger, a young woman who
accompanies him during his NDE. She appears not only in human form, but
in the form of a brilliant orb of light. She is later identified as his
birth sister who died ten years previously and someone who Alexander had
never met.
Numerous explanations have been suggested to identity of these balls
of light:
soul/consciousness energy, a vehicle of consciousness, angels,
spirits, light waves, discarnate energies, thought forms,
inter-dimensional beings, energy fields, aliens, dust or moisture
particles, pollution in the atmosphere, or lens flare.
Orbs are most readily captured on digital cameras.

“Orbs come in a variety of
colors from the visible light spectrum, including ultra violet, x-ray
and gamma ray range. Currently, there are two different scientific
theories as to the physical makeup of orbs; subtle energy i.e. Chi,
Prana and Life Force, or plasma.
Orbs are mentioned in
literature across many genres and have been captured by traditional
film, digital photography and video. There is a growing body of
published information, videos and websites discussing this phenomenon.
With a simple camera anyone can learn to take pictures of these
incredible light beings. Though generally not visible to the naked eye,
some people can see them while others are able to “feel” their presence.
Orbs are a beautiful demonstration of manifesting physical reality
through consciousness. They are the most readily available proof of the
existence of life beyond our third dimension. As the veil thins between
worlds, we are afforded the opportunity to connect with the magic and
beauty of spirit. We have been given a window to the divine. Thanks to
the digital camera, we now have a visual experience that quite possibly
validates for the first time what mystics, spiritual leaders, and
religious doctrine have expressed for millennia: that we truly are
eternal beings.”
Phenomenological list of experiential and transformative elements
One or more of the following experiences or identifying factors is
associated with the appearance of orbs. This is not an exhaustive list,
as the study of orbs is a relatively new field.
- Circular transparent or solid light objects, from one to many to
hundreds, appearing on traditional film and/or digital photographs
and videos.
- Orbs can occasionally be seen by the naked eye.
- Children appear to have the ability to see these light
beings, and many domestic animals seem alert to their presence.
- Their presence can sometimes be felt through
clairsentience.
- Some people report hearing them as they fly by.
- Orbs have a consciousness and appear intelligent.
- Communication between orbs occurs through intuition, intention,
and thoughts in the form of wishes, requests or directives, and
dreams similar to an ADC, clairaudience and clairsentience.
- Commonly they appear to float above groups of happy, laughing,
singing or prayerful gatherings of people, but are also seen in
photographs or moving through videos of empty rooms, or resting on
or by furniture, people and animals.
- They can be photographed during psychic readings.
- They appear benevolent and seem to enjoy attention.
- Orbs can determine whether or not to reveal themselves.
- They can respond to requests to interact with family and
friends. They also appear in significant places at significant
times.
- They are three-dimensional.
- Some orbs in digital photographs appear to have discernible
facial features and human expressions while others can contain
animal or extraterrestrial features. Some faces have been identified
as loved ones. More than one face can appear inside an orb.
- Each orb has its own unique interior structure and can contain
symbols, bumps, knobs, tracks, mandalas, concentric circles, and
coronas.
- ome people report direct communication by clairaudience between
an orb and/or the intuitive knowing of the identity of the orb,
i.e., Jesus or a family member.
- Reports of STE’s can occur during an orb sighting.
- Orbs can appear to be the size of a coin or many feet across.
When many orbs are seen in a single photograph, they can be diverse
in size.
- Digital video recordings have captured orbs of various sizes
moving through the camera scene, traveling both slowly and quickly.
- Some photographers report that the more pictures are taken with
the intention of capturing orbs, the more orbs appear in their
photographs.
- Orbs can be photographed and videoed with a Smartphone and
flash.

Digital photographs of orbs taken in darkened environments can
show more orbs appearing than in daylight photographs.
- The use of a flash or light source appears to be a necessity to
capture orbs by camera or video.
- Orbs appear to fluoresce as a reaction to the photon energy
emitted from the camera flash or LED.
- Orbs are most readily captured on inexpensive digital cameras,
manufactured without hot mirrors, which block the conversion of low
wave infra-red light emitted by the orbs.
- Orbs appear to expand in size as they approach a source of light.
- Orbs will appear blue under the influence of an LED.
- Orbs can be seen and filmed with an infra red camera.
- In digital photographs, orbs can appear to be a mix of many
gauzy, transparent colors: white, pink, blue, purple, green, etc.
Colored orbs can be taken in the same photo as white orbs.
- It is suggested that the vibrational rate of the varying colors
of orbs may relate to the spiritual development of the individual
orb.
- Orbs can be captured in motion and can appear as spheres with a
trail of light, and as freeform or straight tubes of white or
colored light. These tubes can be solid or appear as a grouping of
multiple orbs.
- Orbs have been clocked at speeds of up to five hundred miles per
hour.
- In a group, orbs appear to move as a group much like a school of
fish or flock of birds.
- Orbs have been seen to appear and disappear through torsion
vortices.
- Plasma clouds can be taken in the same photograph as orbs or
appear shortly before or after orbs appear.
- Orbs have appeared in Class 7 clean room conditions.

Dr. Klaus Heinemann
Born and educated in Germany, Dr. Klaus Heinemann holds a Ph.D. in
experimental physics from the University of Tübingen. He worked for many
years in materials science research at NASA, UCLA, and as a research
professor at Stanford University. He is the founder and chairman of a
corporation that performs scientific research in computational fluid
dynamics, materials development, and nanotechnology, under contracts
from NASA. He is co-author of both The Orb Project

Virginia Hummel
Virginia Hummel is an author and inspirational speaker on the
subjects of Orbs and New Age Bereavement Healing. She has been a
lifelong student of spiritual and metaphysical studies and most recently
the orb phenomenon. Following the 2007 appearance of a brilliant white
orb, visible to her naked eyes, she has focused her energy into

The phenomenon of energy orbs has become more and more visible at
